The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 5.5 days on the ground.
On Aug 5th 2022 the Colombian Dirección Técnica de Investigación de Accidentes (DIACC) reported the aircraft was descending through FL195 when a loud explosionlike sound was heard from the right hand engine and the aircraft yawed to the left. The crew performed the emergency procedures, right hand generator and APU "differed" (editorial note: verbatim quote from the English abstract presented by DIACC, the meaning of which remains unclear). The crew declared Mayday and continued to Bogota for a landing without further incident. Turbine blade debris was found in the exhaust cone, there was extensive damage to the low pressure turbine seizing the engine. The aircraft sustained minor damage, the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by the DIACC.
