A passenger reported that the aircraft was descending through dense clouds when there was a sudden bang associated with a bright purple/white flash. A short time later the captain announced they had just received a lightning strike, but there was nothing to worry about, the aircraft was protected against such lightning strike. The aircraft landed safely about 15 minutes later.
The aircraft was unable to continue its schedule however and is still on the ground in Singapore 43 hours after landing.
